Proceeding towards west, beyond “Le Bombarde” and “Lazzaretto” beaches, the coast line becomes higher and higher changing into cliffs.
You first meet with the promontory of Punta Giglio which delimitates estwards the bay of Porto Conte (once called Nimphs’ Port) considered the widest natural bay of the mediterranean sea. Within the bay after the beach of Mugoni, the coastline slowly rises till Punta Semaforo and Capo Caccia where the coast falls perpendicularly at a high of 204 m and 326...

A sud della cittĂ il tratto di costa di circa 40 km fra Alghero e Bosa riserva uno spettacolo incantevole e selvaggio, assai diverso dalla costa a Nord-Ovest della cittĂ . Gli altipiani centrali, digradando in breve spazio al livello del mare, formano potenti bastionate di variopinte rocce vulcaniche intervallate da profonde gole, dove nidificano una colonia di avvoltoi grifoni e numerose specie di rapaci che rompono di tanto in tanto con i loro gridi il silenzio solenne di questo santuario...

[Alghero] The Palmavera nuragic village

The nuragic civilisation was born in Sardinia around 15th century BC and spread all over the island. This civilisation is considered to be pre-historical as yet a written document has never been found, even if the remains and the degree of civilisation achieved, could let us believe otherwise.
We need to differentiate between the simple “nuraghe” and the “nuragic village”. The first is today considered a watching tower; the second a temple/house of the tribe’s chief evolved into a fortress....
